Best NYE Party Punch

December 29, 2015

Hosting a New Year bash and want the perfect party punch to get people in the mood?  Read on…

Apologies for radio silence over the past couple of weeks but the festive season took hold and I’ve been shopping, baking, hosting, hooking and wrapping like a mad woman.  It paid off.  The brood celebrated their presents.  The folks loved their Christmas day.  And I was reminded once again how massively lucky I am to be surrounded by gorgeous family, friends and an ever-adoring labrador.  Hope yours was fun.  I had a blast.

The Christmas madness culminated in a fab house party with many special friends last night.  Truth be told I hate hosting parties.  I worry up until the doorbell goes that no-one will show.  As a result, I’m a total stress head for the 24 hours preceding the party and I apologise now to Big Al and the boys for being unbearable.  But the doorbell rang, the guests did show and I relished every minute of the resulting laughter, top tunes and long overdue catch-ups.

To help things along, I concocted a cheeky party punch. Having discovered and swiftly purchased two gorgeous 8 litre Kilner cocktail dispensers (you can buy them here or if you live in Jersey they are currently on sale in de Gruchy), I struggled to find a good winter punch recipe. So I busked it and made my own.  It was ridiculously delicious, far too easy to quaff and ensured volume levels went from zero to very very loud in a nano second.  Perfect party fodder.

So here it is.  Ready to enrich your New Year festivities should you so wish.  It’s gloriously easy to make and top-up throughout the night.

Ingredients for the GLE Perfect Party Punch

  • 1 x 1 litre bottle Vodka
  • 2 x 1 litre bottles of lemonade
  • 1 x 500ml bottle of blackcurrant and raspberry cordial
  • Loads of ice
  • Chopped up chunks of orange and apple

Simply mix all the ingredients together.  Top up your vessel with ice so it is served really cold in a tumbler – you can use anything to hold it, you don’t have to have a Kilner jar – and get pouring.  Enjoy and happy New Year.
